# 10 | Add borders & binding

## <mark style="color:blue;">Exercise 10</mark>

**10** | *Add binding and/or borders to your quilt design.*

***Objective*** | To add borders (using the quick method) and binding to your quilt design in PreQuilt.&#x20;

***Did You Know*** | You can also preview your binding using digital fabric swatches.&#x20;

### <mark style="color:blue;">01 | Adding Borders (</mark>*<mark style="color:blue;">Quick Method</mark>*<mark style="color:blue;">)</mark>

1. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**BINDING/BORDER**</mark> tab on the left side control panel.

2. Click on the '<mark style="color:blue;">**Add Border**</mark>' button.

3. A 2" border will automatically be added around the entire quilt. Change the border to <mark style="color:blue;">**4"**</mark> and <mark style="color:blue;">**choose**</mark> a Color Tag from the dropdown Fabric menu for the borders color.&#x20;

4. In this example, I'll keep it Color Tag A, which is also the background fabric.

5. If you'd like to add another border, repeat ***Steps 02a.2-3*** to add up 3 borders around the outside of the quilt grid.

   * In this example, I have added 2 quick method borders.

### <mark style="color:blue;">02a | Adding Binding Using Solid Fabric</mark>

1. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**BINDING/BORDER**</mark> tab on the left side control panel.

2. Select your desired binding width by pressing the <mark style="color:blue;">**+**</mark> button.

3. Using the dropdown menu, select your <mark style="color:blue;">**binding fabric Color Tag**</mark>. In this example, I used the solid fabric associated with Color Tag B.

4. Now your quilt has binding!

### <mark style="color:blue;">02b | Adding Binding Using Printed Fabric</mark>

1. Import the digital fabric swatch for your printed fabric.
   * See [*Exercise 07 | Use printed fabric*](/old-courses/quiltcon-courses/deep-dive-into-prequilt/07-or-use-printed-fabric.md#01-or-find-and-save-digital-fabric-swatches) for a refresher on how to do this.
2. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**BINDING/BORDER**</mark> tab on the left side control panel.

3. Select your desired binding width by pressing the <mark style="color:blue;">**+**</mark> button.

4. Using the dropdown menu, select your <mark style="color:blue;">**binding fabric Color Tag**</mark>. In this example, I used the printed fabric associated with Color Tag D.

5. Now your quilt has binding using printed fabric!
