06c | Create a three color stop ombre on a Log Cabin block.
Objective | To use the PreQuilt Ombre Maker to create log cabin blocks with a 3 Color Stop ombre.
First we're going to create a 1 Color Stop on one half of our Log Cabin block. For this example, I'll do this on the top left half of the log cabin block.
Click on the COLOR TAGS tab on the .
Click on three dots () next to the Create Color Tag button.
Click on Ombre Maker on the dropdown menu.
The Ombre Maker control panel will slide out.
Tip: You can change the default solids library to your preference using the dropdown menu. The default is set to Kona.
Click on Create Ombre on the 3 Color Stop tile.
Another panel will slide in. This is where you set the ombre. A 3 color stop ombre has 3 anchors with steps inbetween each.
Drag and drop the starting color tag into the STOP 1 box. This is the first anchoring color tag will be the dominant color tag that the other color tags will follow in steps.
In this example, I'm going to drag Color Tag A into the STOP 1 position. Color Tag A is used on the top left side of the log cabin and is farthest outside log pieces.
Click on the checkbox to preview what these changes will look like before committing to these changes.
Next drag and drop the color tag that will be the middle anchor. This middle anchor will be the end of the first ombre (started with STOP 1) and the beginning of another ombre (which will end with STOP 3).
In this example, I'll use Color Tag E, which is linked to the center square, as STOP 2.
Next drag and drop the color tag that will be the last anchor, which is STOP 3.
In this example, I'll use Color Tag I, which is linked to the outer most log on the bottom right side of the log cabin block.
Drag and drop all the remaining color tags into the STEP positions between the 3 anchor stops.
In this example, I will move Color Tags B, C, and D inbetween STOP 1 and STOP 2. And I'll move Color Tags F, G, and H inbetween STOP 2 and STOP 3.
Note: Once the color tags have been added to the ombre steps, they will automatically change to the conform to and create the ombre.
We can look at the preview to see what this ombre will look like before committing to it.
Note: Only one half of the log cabin block has an ombre.
Since this is a little dark, I might want to change one of the anchor color tags. To edit the color tag, click on the pencil () next to our anchor color tag.
The color swatch library panel will slide out. We can now link a new solid color swatch to Color Tag F.
Click on the solid color swatch you'd like to use. In this example, I'm going to use Kona Water. The panel will close once you edit the color tag.
Repeat Steps 01.13-15 until you create an ombre you like.
Once you're happy with the ombre and color tags being used, click on Save and Apply Ombre.
The new ombre is now saved under 'Your Ombres'. To exit, click on the X () in the top right corner of the Ombre Maker panel.
When you look at the Color Tag tab, you will see 3 red stars () next to the ombre's anchoring stop color tags.
In this example, the color stops are Color Tag A, E, and I.
Don't forget to save the quilt!
