Module 06c | How to Import Digital Fabric Swatches into PreQuilt

Now that you've downloaded your digital fabric swatches onto your computer, let's get them uploaded into PreQuilt and prepared to be used in your quilts.

You'll learn in this module how to upload the swatches, set the scale of the swatch, and crop out the ruler or other visual noise so that it doesn't end up in your quilt.

PRO TIP - BULK EDIT: You can save A LOT of time by using the Bulk Edit feature in PreQuilt. Use this when importing and editting your fabric swatches.

To import and edit your digital printed fabric swatches:

  1. If you're in a quilt, click on your Avatar in the top right corner and select Dashboard.

  2. Click on the FABRIC DASHBOARD tab from the main dashboard.

  3. Click on the Bulk Upload button on the first tile.

  4. From your computer's organization system, select the fabric swatches (use the shift key to select more than one at a time) that you downloaded and click Open.

    • Time Saving Tip: You can upload up to 25 fabric swatches at one time (use the shift key to select more than one file at a time)!

    • NOTE: I use a Mac, so my option is Open, but I'm not sure what it is on a PC. Sorry.

  5. Click on the checkmark in the top left corner for all of the fabric swatches that you'd like to bulk edit for use at one time (up to 25 at a time).

  6. Click on Bulk Edit button at the top of the dashboard.

  7. Using the ruler as a reference, enter the width of the fabric swatch into the dimensions field. In this example, I've entered the number 7.

    • NOTE: Because we're in the Bulk Edit mode, this dimension will be set for all the selected fabric swatches.

    • TIP: You can use the best guess table to help you out. It is not exact, but a good guess based on what manufacturer the fabric is from.

  8. Click on the Save button.

  9. Hover over the Drag button along the bottom of the fabric swatch. Click and hold the Drag button and drag it up so that it is above the ruler. This will crop the ruler out of the image.

  10. Click on the Save button again to save the new changes. Then click on the Close button.

  11. Click on the Deselect All button and you're ready to use them!

  12. You can now see that the ruler has been cropped out of all the swatches that we bulk edited.
