02 | Color randomizer

Exercise 02

02 | Using the color randomizer, create a color palette for a digital coloring page of your choice and download the quilt map and color palette.

Objective | To experiment with the color randomizer to create a color palette that you might not have manually created and to save the chosen color palette by downloading it.

01 | Color Randomizer

TIP: If you don't want to change the fabric linked to a Color Tag, lock it!

To lock a color tag, click on the lock button next to the color tag's edit button.

I often use the Color Randomizer as a starting point to find a few randomly assigned color tags that I like and work well together. Then I'll manually change the other color tags until I have a final color palette that I'd like to work with.

  1. Continue clicking on the Randomize Colors button (and locking and unlocking color tags) until you find a color palette that you want to proceed to construction with.

02 | Saving Digital Coloring Page

Since you have a subscription to PreQuilt, you might want to save a copy of your digital coloring page to your Quilt Dashboard.

  1. Click on Clone Current on the popup window.

  2. A copy of the quilt has now been added to your account. You can tell that it has been copied, because a Save button has now been added to the Toolbar.

03 | Downloading Quilt Information

To make the quilt making process easier, you can download an image of the quilt as well as a copy of the color palette (also called fabric pull) used on the quilt.

  1. A pop-up window will open with the quilt map on the left hand side and the colorway on the right hand side.

  2. Click on the Download the Design button (on the left side) to download only the quilt map.

  3. Click on Download the Colors button (on the right side) to download the color swatches used.
