# 06b | Find a Single Fabric Swatch

{% hint style="danger" %}
**SWATCH SIZE:** It's important to try and find a swatch image that contains a ruler so that you can set the scale of the fabric swatch (so that PreQuilt knows how to use it in your quilts). If it's not in the image, see if the fabric manufacturer lists the swatch's dimension.

Sometimes you'll want to just download a single printed fabric swatch for a specific fabric you'd like to use. There's no need to download the entire collection, if you already know exactly what fabric you have in mind for a quilt!

To find a single printed fabric swatch, you can often start at your local fabric shop's online website.

1. Search online and find the digital fabric swatch for the printed fabric you'd like to use. If you have the fabric already, you can often use the selvedge to get all the relevant information you need to do an accurate search. In the video tutorial, I was using a Painterly Petals print from Robert Kaufman.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://courses.prequilt.com/youtube-courses/intro-to-prequilt-course/06-or-printed-fabric-swatches/06b-or-find-a-single-fabric-swatch.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
