Now that you understand the foundation of how to clone a block and make the cloned copy its own unique variation, let's have some fun!
This is where PreQuilt really excels and can help you rapidly work through so many fun design options.
Read below to learn how to make each of the following Sawtooth Star block variations that were designed by Wendy Chow of The Weekend Quilter.
Click on the Edit Block button for the newly cloned block 'Sawtooth Star (3)'.
The Block Editor panel will slide out. Click on the Sawtooth Star's center, large square block piece that is linked to Fabric Link B to select it.
Click on the Link button for Fabric Link C, which is using AGF Cyrstal Pink.
Now you can see that the center, large square block piece is now linked to the same fabric as the background pieces.
To select multiple block pieces at once, hold the shift button and click on the Sawtooth Star's diagonal bottom left and top right half square triangle pieces (currently using Fabric Link B) to select them.
Click on the Link button for Fabric Link A, which is using AGF Hydrangea.
Now you can see that the Sawtooth Star's diagonal bottom left and top right half square triangle pieces have changed from being linked to AGF Mirage Blue to AGF Hydrangea.
Click on the Save to Quilt button in the upper right corner of the Block Editor.
Click on the Edit Block button for the newly cloned block 'Sawtooth Star (4)'.
The Block Editor panel will slide out. Click on the Sawtooth Star's center, large square block piece that is linked to Fabric Link C to select it.
Click on the Link button for Fabric Link B, which is using AGF Mirage Blue.
Now you can see that the center, large square block piece is now linked to the same fabric as the top left and bottom right Sawtooth Star half-square triangles.
Click on the Save to Quilt button in the upper right corner of the Block Editor.
Click on the Edit Block button for the newly cloned block 'Sawtooth Star (5)'.
The Block Editor panel will slide out. Click on the Sawtooth Star's center, large square block piece that is linked to Fabric Link B to select it.
Then click on your keyboard's delete button to remove it from the block. Once it has been deleted, you will see the gingham pattern denoting the transparent background and the empty space.
Click on the Link button for Fabric Link C, which is using AGF Cyrstal Pink. Also move and resize it so that it fills the bottom left side of the empty square space.
Click on the two smaller diagonal half square triangle pieces next to the larger half square triangle and link them to Fabric Link C.
Click on the Link button for Fabric Link B, which is using AGF Mirage Blue. Also rotate, move and resize it so that it fills the top right side of the empty space.
Click on the two smaller diagonal half square triangle pieces in the top right corner of the Sawtooth Star and link them to Fabric Link C.
Click on the Save to Quilt button in the upper right corner of the Block Editor.
In the BLOCKS tab, click on the Three Dots button () next to the 'Sawtooth Star (2)' block, since it's the block we want to clone. Then click on the Clone option from the dropdown menu.

In the BLOCKS tab, click on the Three Dots button () next to the original 'Sawtooth Star' block, since it's the block we want to clone. Then click on the Clone option from the dropdown menu.
Click on the half-square triangle shape in the central vertical toolbar () to add it to the block.
