# 04 | Manage color tags

{% hint style="warning" %} **ALERT:** When the color of a [*color tag*](https://app.gitbook.com/s/6bPmBgJH7XZ5gcieNGS3/pq-glossary/cs#color-tags) is changed (either from a solid to another solid - or from a solid to a printed fabric swatch), everything that is linked to or uses that Color Tag will also change.

## Exercise 04
**04** | *Create 2+ new color tags.*
***Objective*** | To understand how to manage solid color options using [*Color Tags*](https://app.gitbook.com/s/6bPmBgJH7XZ5gcieNGS3/pq-glossary/cs#color-tags) in PreQuilt. You will also learn how to add additional color tags and change color tag colors.
***Did You Know*** | Each quilt has three default color tags (A, B, and C). If your quilt requires more than 3 different fabrics or colors, you can easily add more. Also, the solid color cards for most major fabric manufacturers are preloaded in PreQuilt.
### 01 | Adding a Color Tag
1. Click on the **COLOR TAG** tab on the [*left side control panel*](https://app.gitbook.com/s/6bPmBgJH7XZ5gcieNGS3/pq-glossary/cs#left-side-control-panel).
2. Click on the **Create Color Tag** button.
3. A fourth color tag is added, Color Tag D, with a default color of *Kona Baby Pink*.
### 02 | Changing a Color Tag's Color
{% hint style="info" %} **Manufacturer Color Cards:** PreQuilt comes pre-loaded with the solid fabric color cards of most fabric manufactures, like Robert Kaufman's Kona, Andover's Century Solids, etc.

Since each new color tag's color will have the default color of *Kona Baby Pink*, you will most likely want to change this new color tag's color.
1. Click on the **Edit** button () for Color Tag D.
2. The Color Tag panel (also called [*Fabric Library Panel*](https://glossary.prequilt.com/pq-glossary/fs#fabric-library-panel)) will slide in. Using the dropdown menu, **click on your preferred solid fabric manufacturer**.
* In this example, I'll select my favorite, **Paintbrush Studio**.
Click on your preferred manufacturer to switch color cards
3. Click on the **swatch** for Color Tag D's new color.
* In this example, I'll select **Bright Aqua**.
Click on a color swatch to select it
4. After clicking on the swatch, the panel will close and you will now see the new color for Color Tag D.
