### <mark style="color:blue;">01 | Create an Overlap Design</mark>

First we want to create a simple overlapping design using [*One Patch Blocks*](https://glossary.prequilt.com/pq-glossary/os#one-patch-blocks). Once we have a simple design using 3 different color tags, we can then create a transparency.

1. Create a new rectangular grid quilt.
   * If you need a refresher, visit the [*a | Create a new quilt*](/old-courses/quiltcon-courses/color-it-with-prequilt/03-or-how-to-color-tag/a-or-create-a-new-quilt.md) tutorial.
2. To select cell blocks, <mark style="color:blue;">**click on them**</mark> on the digital design wall. Selected cell blocks will be outlined in blue.
   * ![](/files/hgCdLBNBwpEc4RitFhPK)
3. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**+**</mark> sign next on the 1 PATCH BLOCKS tab.
   * ![](/files/9HwJV9T1UxJydfwUlIw8)
4. Then click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**Add To Quilt**</mark> button next to the 1 Patch Block for Color Tag A.
   * ![](/files/ijhg6FjTDRgbGhkuPX4m)
5. We now have a square that is linked to Color Tag A. Deselect the blocks by <mark style="color:blue;">**clicking on the gray area**</mark> outside the digital design wall.
   * ![](/files/FJWVgH5lhTZ2WAXldLrm)
6. <mark style="color:blue;">**Repeat**</mark> ***Steps 01.2-5*** to create another shape that overlaps the first shape. But this time use the 1 Patch Block for Color Tag C.

7. <mark style="color:blue;">**Repeat**</mark> ***Steps 01.2-5*** to create the overlapped shape from the first and second shapes. Use the 1 Patch Block for Color Tag B.

8. Now we're ready to create a transparency. Don't forget to <mark style="color:blue;">**save**</mark> your quilt!

### <mark style="color:blue;">02 | Create a Transparency</mark>

We're going to use the 2 Color Stop Ombre Maker to create our transparency.

1. Click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**COLOR TAGS**</mark> tab on the [*<mark style="color:blue;">left side control panel</mark>*](https://glossary.prequilt.com/pq-glossary/cs#left-side-control-panel).
   * ![](/files/vUbTfG0ZLZPizFlpro2e)
2. Click on <mark style="color:blue;">**three dots**</mark> (<img src="/files/0pw0WiAHg8OYmfDns3Lj" alt="" data-size="line">) next to the Create Color Tag button.
   * ![](/files/zQDJpFhPCTtUqVepORyt)
3. Click on <mark style="color:blue;">**Ombre Maker**</mark> on the dropdown menu.
   * ![](/files/EblHgQxXWuJdDJaKebYv)
4. The Ombre Maker control panel will slide out.
   * <mark style="color:blue;">**Tip:**</mark> You can change the default solids library to your preference using the dropdown menu. The default is set to Kona.
   * ![](/files/aoeMuANb6bhGBdapowj6)
5. Click on <mark style="color:blue;">**Create Ombre**</mark> on the 2 Color Stop tile.
   * ![](/files/Q03oHmDEDoM5xoNkLX83)
6. Another panel will slide in. This is where you set the transparency. A 2 color stop ombre has 2 anchoring color stops with steps in between.
   * ![](/files/fqKLk7JQ7uKKUOCTYCpY)
7. <mark style="color:blue;">**Drag and drop**</mark> the color tag for our first shape into the STOP 1 box. This is the first anchoring color tag.
   * *In this example*, I'm going to drag Color Tag A into the STOP 1 position.&#x20;
   * ![](/files/dkzzbl7jLLBTbrHZQl4j)
8. <mark style="color:blue;">**Drag and drop**</mark> the color tag for our second shape into the STOP 2 box. This is the second anchoring color tag.
   * *In this example*, I'm going to drag Color Tag C into the STOP 2 position.&#x20;
   * ![](/files/IAcw2CFUYJrUjJpm6Sw4)
9. <mark style="color:blue;">**Drag and drop**</mark> the color tag for our overlapping shape into the STEP 1 box. This will be our transparency color.
   * *In this example*, I'm going to drag Color Tag B into the STEP 1 position.&#x20;
   * **Note:** Once Color Tag B is dragged into the STEP 1 position, it automatically changes to a color that will create an ombre in relation to both STOP 1 and STOP 2.

10. We can look at the preview to see what this ombre will look like before committing to it.

    <figure><img src="/files/oRfSL9RMjZ9ISqNv4Qwv" alt=""><figcaption><p><em>Preview of our 2 Color Stop transparency ombre</em></p></figcaption></figure>
11. If you're happy with the ombre and color tags being used, click on <mark style="color:blue;">**Save and Apply Ombre**</mark>.
    * ![](/files/ZEfWrBHhl1NJcEncmplC)
12. The new ombre is now saved under 'Your Ombres'. To exit, click on the <mark style="color:blue;">**X**</mark> (<img src="/files/c5evqq5vOkQOFXeuyYM5" alt="" data-size="line">) in the top right corner of the Ombre Maker panel.
