03b | Add 1 Patch Blocks
1 Patch Block is a complete patch (piece) of fabric that takes the shape of the grid cell that it fills (usually a square or rectangle).
Module 03b | Add 1 Patch Blocks to Quilt Grid
In this sub-module, you'll learn how to add 1 Patch Blocks to your quilt grid. The great thing about using 1 patch blocks is that you do not need to design a block that is a simple rectangle or square, simply use a 1 patch block and it will change its dimensions to fill the space of the grid cell.

01 | Adding a 1 Patch Quilt Block to a Quilt
Click on the BLOCKS tab on the left side control panel.
Click on the + to expand the 1 Patch Blocks tab.
Select the cell on the grid that you'd like to add a 1 patch block to.
Click on the Add to Quilt button next to the 1 Patch Block you'd like to use. In this example, I'm adding Fabric Link A.
Deselect the cell by clicking outside the quilt grid. You will now see that we have a light gray (Fabric Link A) square added to the quilt grid.
02 | Quick Select Empty Grid Cells on Quilt
Click on an empty cell on the quilt grid.
Right click and click on Select = Blocks.
You will now see that all the empty grid cells are now selected (and outlined in blue).
Click on the Add to Quilt button next to the 1 Patch Block you'd like to use. In this example, I'm adding Fabric Link A.
Deselect the cell by clicking outside the quilt grid. You will now see that all the empty cells now have a light gray (Fabric Link A) square added to them.
03 | Use a Different 1 Patch Block
Click on one of the light gray (Fabric Link A) one patch blocks on the quilt grid.
Right click and click on Select = Blocks.
Click on the Add to Quilt button next to the 1 Patch Block you'd like to use. In this example, I'm adding Fabric Link C.
Deselect the cell by clicking outside the quilt grid. You will now see that all the empty cells now have a green (Fabric Link C) square added to them.
Repeat steps 1-3 until you settle on the 1 Patch Block you like the most.
Don't forget to save your quilt!
